Portrait of Malcolm Dale Richardson

Malcolm is originally from New Jersey and currently resides in San Francisco, California. A proud UW–Madison alum, he shares that he is excited to return as part of the MSPE program. Malcolm is a former middle school social studies teacher with experience working in charter schools in New York City and San Francisco. He is passionate about professional development for educators, particularly in areas such as classroom management, data analysis, and strategies that drive student success. Currently, Malcolm runs a private coaching business for middle school students focused on high school readiness. He is also interested in exploring how out-of-classroom support systems can be optimized to better serve students.

I enrolled in the MSPE program precisely because of the breadth and flexibility of the applications that the MSPE focuses on. While I know the MSPE will help me improve individually as a classroom teacher, I’m excited for the ways in which it will allow me to grow as a leader, a coach, and as a tutor. I’d like to explore a career in instructional coaching at some point down the road, and so I am excited to begin that journey in a more formal way with MSPE coursework.
