MSPE courses are designed to address standards from multiple professional organizations, including:
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Teacher Standards
- Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) Model Core Teacher Standards
- National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)
- University of Wisconsin – Madison Teacher Education Standards
Each student identifies a set of standards that best represents that student’s goals in the MSPE program. The student then uses these standards to assess and document increasing competence throughout the MSPE program.
The MSPE Capstone course affords students the opportunity to develop a document that showcases specific activities and products that have facilitated increased mastery of standards.
Many MSPE students have crafted Professional Development Plans with their schools and/or districts. MSPE students are encouraged to share these goals with MSPE faculty so instructors can work with students to facilitate progress toward specific professional goals.
